81.6Hearne to M Gilkes0
Dot ball. Lachlan Hearne to Matthew Gilkes. Half volley, Leave, for no runs, fielded by Peirson. Hands are being shaken here at Cricket Central after the captains agree neither team can win this game. Both teams fought hard but the overs lost to rain on Day 2 deprived everyone of a result. Kurtis Patterson and Jack Edwards saved New South Wales from an enourmous collapse on Day 1, helping them get from 5/59 to a more respectable total of 239. Queensland controlled their batting innings from start to finish, led by Angus Lovell's 7 hour-long 146 not out. They declared overnight for 406 hoping to skittle the Blues as they did on the first morning but the home side's batters were more sensible today. After the openers saw off a tricky opening spell, Kurtis Patterson (66) and Oliver Davies (88) combined for a 117-run partnership to ensure they didn't lose this match. Mitch Swepson bowled 35 overs today for minimal reward, finishing with 2/83. The other highlight today was Angus Lovell's skillful outfield catch to remove Oliver Davies which, paired with his impressive century earned him the Player of the Match award.
