Australia - T20 Spring Challenge - Womens Domestic Twenty20October 12
20
End of over. Over 20. 8 runs. Bowler: Caoimhe Bray. Brisbane Heat Women: 144/9(rr 7.20)
19.6Bray to L Hamilton1
One run. Caoimhe Bray to Lilli Hamilton. Back of a length, cutting, Played in the air uncontrolled to point for 1 run, dropped catch by Nicklin. The Heat looked strong in their first game, but some clutch bowling at the death means the Sixers defeat them by 3 runs tonight, taking both teams to 1 win and 1 loss so far in the T20 Spring Challenge. Three Sixers batters scored at least 35 runs at better than a run-a-ball, taking them to a total of 147. One of those was Elsa Hunter, who won the Player of the Match award for her 39 off 26 at the top of the order. Kate Peterson (36 not out off 25) and Frankie Nicklin (10 not out off 5) delivered some late hitting which gave them momentum heading into the innings break. Redmayne (41 off 31) looked dangerous early but after she fell to a terrific caught and bowled from Nicklin (2/25), the Heat lost wickets consistently. Wrigley and Hancock provided some resistance but too much was left up to the tail and they eventually fell 3 runs short. That game could be crucial in such a cut-throat tournament format as you expect both teams to be near the top of the table for the Semi Finals next weekend. Thanks for following along tonight, bye for now.
